Mecheda Sports Unit is a sports and socio-cultural organisation founded on 15 August 1984.
A premier sports & socio-cultural organisation with work spanning sports, cultural education, social service and festivals.

Social Services
Improvement of Sports & Culture. Selfless service for the downtrodden; Establishment of Charitable Dispensary & Free Coaching Centre. Distribution of Books to needy students & Kits to handicappeds. Financial help for marriage of poor girls; Various Immunisation Camps at Low Cost. Collection of Blood for the dyings & the Thalassemia patients. Flourishment of children and so many likewise are what it aim at.
Mecheda Sports Unit is a purely apolitical pioneering Sports & Socio-Cultural Organisation at Mecheda, a busy prosperous semi-town, adjacent to Kolaghat Thermal Power Station and at the gate-way of Haldia Port & Digha a sea-side tourist spot.
Community Support
MSU holds blood donation camps twice each year and helps people in very needy circumstances. Oxygen cylinders are available on demand with advance booking.
During winter, MSU conducts eight days of different activities, generally from the end of December through the middle of January.

Performance
The Club has some diversified performances in the fields of sports & culture. We have a reputed football team, which participated many football tournaments in both Medinipur & Howrah and became successful in handsome number. We are arranging successfully cultural functions where a number of eminent artists performed and competitions in the events like Recitation, Dance, Sit & Draw, Debate, Tabla Playing, Music, Extempore, News Reading, Inter School Quiz Competitions, One-Act Play Competition with famous drama teams of West Bengal 5 K.M. Road Race, One Day Football Knock Out, 2 days Limited Over Cricket Tournament, Body Building and Special Competition for married ladies and many others for last 21 years. Besides our organisation conducted workshops and seminars on Recitation and Drama. Renowned personalities like Bratati Bandopadhyay, Pranati Thakur, Partha Ghosh, Jagannath Basu, Satinath Mukhopadhyay graced the occasions and trained the budding performers with sincerity and affection.
